Day 215-Victoria Falls From Zambia to Zimbabwe

Livingstone-Victoria Falls

Crossing the Victoria Falls border as a pedestrian is a bit of a walk, but not bad at all. The border post is about 8km from Livingstone. As a Canadian, we paid $50USD for a Univisa, which allows us to visit both Zambia and Zimbabwe on a tourist visa.

After going through departures in Zambia, you end up walking across the bridge where bungee jumpers jump. Another 15 minutes of walking will get you to immigration in Zimbabwe. To get to town from here, it’s about 1KM. There is also a short cut to the left of the main road.

After settling in at Shoestring Backpackers, we walked about 10 minutes back to the entrance of Victoria Falls. Finally, we get to explore this wonder of the world!

Fun Facts:

  • Local Tonga name is Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke that Thunder)
  • Devils cataract on the Zimbabwe side is the lowest point
  • The highest point is 103 meters high
