After about 2 months here, I’m starting to feel very comfortable in Cape Town. Most people enjoy the feeling of comfort, but to me it’s frightening thought. It worries me in the sense that I will lose the constant stimulation that sparks my creativity. When I get comfortable, I tent to lose momentum and motivation.
The lesson here isn’t to pack up and go, but to find inspiration wherever you are. Doing the same thing everyday can feel mundane, but we have the power to change that. Today was a typical day of blogging at a cafe, followed by a brainstorming session and a quick stop at the grocery store to prepare for load shedding. We go 2 hours without electricity, hang out in the dark, then a couple friends come over. The only difference is that I actually stopped to open my eyes and look within for inspiration, rather than my surroundings. When you let go of what you think you are supposed to do, ideas start flowing and that’s when we get those aha moments!
