Day 173-Redesigning Society

Cape Town

There is no doubt that we are undergoing a paradigm shift in the way we view the world. Many of us see the correlation between non-conformity and social change, but this growing community of conscious awakening is more than meets the eye. Whether you were born with this sense of awareness or a life changing experience altered your perspective, it’s a wonderful journey.

As much as I hate the idea of categorization and generalization because it acts as a cognitive shortcut and does not reflect the complexity of the matter, society is heading in a few different directions. There are those who will open up to this interconnected world of change and collective consciousness. They are the ones who believe in a global culture, participate in the movement of community, and understand the importance of Mother Earth. They live by their own philosophies and will not participate nor contribute to a broken society. With love and compassion, these individuals think beyond themselves and tend to understand that their life purpose is for the greater good. On the opposite spectrum, we have those who will not only be opposed to this school of thought, but will also reject the notion of a spiritual awakening. Chances are, these are the conforming individuals who’s values are based on the system and often lack ability to comprehend meaning beyond a superficial level. Then we have everyone in between.

That being said, it’s interesting how these concepts may seem like new and bright ideas of the 21st century. However, if we take a look at ancient civilizations, religion, as well as many conscious cultures, these philosophies stem from ancient beliefs and practices, which are still prevalent in many cultures.

There are those who believe the world is becoming a dark and catastrophic place, and then there are those who believe that we are living in an evolutionary, empowering and enlightening time. At the end of the day, it’s all about perspective and only you can choose how you want to live your life.

“The system isn’t broken, it was built this way”
