If there is one way I know of doing things, it’s to go all out or not at all. This attitude is reflective in many of the things I do, from big decisions to daily tasks. My extreme behavior has been one of my greatest strengths, but also counteracts as a big weakness. Pushing limits comes naturally, but it’s also gets me into trouble!
Last year, I got surgery to reattach/reconstruct the tendons and tissue in my ankle from a rock climbing accident. When your physical ability is compromised, impairing your ability to perform simple tasks, it becomes not only a physical challenge but a mental one as well. You learn to appreciate everything on an entirely different level, which changes your perspective. It also teaches you to not take your health for granted. It’s now been one year post-operation and I figured it’s about time to crank it up a notch! Not that my physical condition is anywhere close to where it was, but a nice long jog can’t hurt! Just shy of 20KM, I managed to jog uphill, downhill, along the coast, and around the mountains of Cape Town! What better way to get back to it and to see this beautiful city, even on a stormy day!
