Day 138-For the Love of Friendship

Cape Town

[Eat Cake for Breakfast]

Friendship is something I truly cherish. The more we age, the more we realize how important it is to have real friends by your side, in good times and in bad. With that, true friends are hard to come by. Lucky for me, I have more than a handful of friendships that have been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Nothing is perfect, and friendship is no exception.

A true friend is someone who will call you out of your shit, pick you up when you fall, laugh with you, cry with you, and loves you for who you are. No matter the distance, a true friend will always be there.

Over the years, I have been separated with most friends by distance. We make it work but you miss out on things such as wine nights, milestones, celebrations, and weekend shenanigans. When I am in the same city as someone I care about, I cherish every moment we get to spend together. When I get to celebrate a birthday with someone I care about, it’s even better! It’s such a rare occasion, which makes it even more special! Better yet, friends let friends eat birthday cake for breakfast!

True friendship isn’t about being inseparable, it’s being separated and nothing changes.
