Day 64-Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City-Mui Ne

[Kitesurfing paradise in Mui Ne]

Mui Ne, a windy little beach town on the coast of Vietnam. Traditionally a fishing village, it has now become a tourist destination, filled with resorts, restaurants, bars, and mini-marts. There really isn’t much to do here, unless you’re into kitesurfing, windsurfing, and exploring the sand dunes nearby. I guess people come here to relax, but who does that anyway?

Although I really enjoy windsurfing, kitesurfing is a sport I’ve been wanting to learn for years. Since my wounds are looking a little gnarly, I’ve been trying to avoid going into the ocean to reduce the risk of infection. So instead, I’m lounging at VKS Beach Club, enjoying the sounds of waves breaking while watching tons of kitesurfers rip it up! Very serene and calming…NOT. Who am I kidding? This is absolute TORTURE! Learning to be still and not re-injuring myself is proving to be very difficult, but at least I’m getting a pretty good tan out of it!

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this” -Henry David Thoreau
