[Healthy lunch at Dao of Life]
As I always say, everything happens for a reason. My day started with a minor bump in the road and I’m not sure why I was even surprised. I am in Asia after all. After checking out of my dorm and making my way to the other side of town, I found out my passport and visa are not ready as promised, which meant I will miss the last bus of the day. This usually isn’t an issue for me, but in a city where every hostel and guesthouse is full, I may be pushing my luck for snagging the last dorm once again.
Rather than spending my day walking around like an aimless backpacker, I throw on my backpack and head in the direction of Dao Life, a vegan restaurant with rooftop yoga. I met one of the founders at a market the other day and it’s been on my to-do list since.
Walking miles under the scorching sun with all my belongings might not have been the best idea, but I was too stubborn to pay $1 for a tuk tuk. I was an aimless backpacker on a mission. I had no place to stay, yet I felt like I had a place to be. Who knew that not getting my visa would mean engaging with like-minded individuals, a private yoga class with another Vancouverite, who also invited me to her house for lunch, and to practice acro yoga with another yogi in the afternoon. A blessing in disguise.
